Down Syndrome


Down’s syndrome was found in 1866 by John Langdon Down. Down syndrome is a condition of underdevelopment physical and mental development of human caused by the development of chromosomal abnormalities.
The characteristics of patients with Down syndrome, namely: hand palm as thick as the palm of the hand of monkeys, he was short (about 120 cm), low intelligence (about 40), eyes slanted and tilted to the left, thick lips, small teeth and rare.

So, how down syndrome can occur? 

Down syndrome can occur because of genetic abnormalities on chromosome called a mutation.
Substances that cause mutation are called mutagen. These mutagens that would change the composition of normal chromosomes become abnormal. This chromosome pair is formed by the failure of chromosomes to each other breakaway during cell division. This ailment happens because of the addition chromosome in chromosome of no. 21.Women who give birth over the age of 40 are at an increased risk for having a baby with this genetic disorder.
